Paving a New Career Path in the Bush.

Dreams, Droving and Al Mabin Photography

The NRWC is excited to be launching our new blog – a space we can share our stories, photos and videos.  The NRWC team will be aiming to post something new and fresh each month to help keep you informed about events, issues and topics close to our hearts, and hopefully yours.  We want our blog to be enjoyable, informative and relevant so we invite you to send us any topics you’d like to discuss, or even write about yourself.  We want to use this platform to give a voice to women living and working in rural, regional and remote parts of the country.

First up this month, author Alice Mabin shares her exciting adventure on a cattle drove from Winton Queensland to Hay NSW last year and how she has put her experiences into her self-published book.  And while you’re visiting our blog spot, why not check out the NRWC website while you’re here?

Meet Cathie Denehy

Rural Women and NRWC Social Media E-Leaders Presenter 2014

The National Rural Women’s Coalition is proud to offer the 2014 Social Media E-Leaders Program to rural, remote and regional women.  Applications are currently open for this amazing 9 week course.  The NRWC is honoured to have Cathie Denehy as the presenter of this program. Cathie lives at Albany in Western Australia and loves living regionally as she gets to really connect with the environment and see its beauty every day and because of technology, her geographic location means nothing to running a successful national and international business.

The NRWC team caught up with Cathie and invited her to share a little more about herself.

Rural Proofing Australia – We all count!

"One third of all Australians live in rural, remote and regional communities and one third of all Australian women live in regional communities. All communities matter,” says Dr Pat Hamilton, Vice President of the National Rural Women’s Coalition.  Whether we live in a regional community or an urban community we all count.

The National Rural Women’s Coalition, in the lead up to the Federal Election is calling for greater consultation with rural, remote and regional communities and consideration of the needs and interests of rural people.

The 2013 National Rural Women’s Summit in February has called for the ‘rural proofing’ of all future government policies and programs, a practice already successfully employed in both the United Kingdom and New Zealand.

The NRWC recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as First Nation traditional owners and custodians of country throughout Australia, and their continuing connection to land, sea and community. We pay our respects to them and their cultures, and to elders both past and present.
